Coffee. Beer. Two of our favourite words in the English language. We teamed up with Boxing Cat Brewery to create a unique collaboration for Shanghai beer drinkers. The outcome was Sumeria Mokha Ale and it’s pretty darn tasty. Here’s a short video we put together explaining the project, don’t mind the mandatory 45 seconds of advertisements before it starts:
We sat down with Boxing Cat brewmaster Mr. Jordan and got him pretty excited about our Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Worka, which is our highest scoring coffee. From the berry notes he had a good idea of what kind of hops could be used to compliment the natural sweetness of the coffee. The hops we used were from New Zealand and share a lot of flavours with sauvignon blanc wine, which is why they have the name Nelson Sauvin hops. Together they have a punchy opening flavour that is calmed by a roasty-toasty wave that comes late to the pallet. Only 900L was made and can be found at both Boxing Cat locations in Shanghai.
