It’s that time of year again! This year HoltelEx Shanghai is running March 31st to April 3rd at the Shanghai New International Expo Center. It’s a combination of fine food, wine, spirits, hospitality, gelato, tea, and most importantly coffee. If you’re a coffee lover, industry insider, or curious consumer, HotelEx Shanghai is a great place to see the excitement around coffee in China. Exhibitors are always a mix of international giants, eager local companies and all sorts of importers dipping their toes in to the fastest growing coffee culture in the world.
Over the four days, both the China Barista Championship and China Latte Art Championship will be running. Wu Yalian from Fujian will be defending her China Barista Champion 2013 title even though she hasn’t had the chance to compete in the WBC 2014 in Italy which will happen later this spring. Li Jianfei, who was last years latte art champion, is rumoured not to be competing this year but I’m sure a fresh group of eager baristas will be pouring rosettas into whatever they can get their hands on.
The calendar and schedule still haven’t been published in English, however visitors can register for free here. Last year we found the first two days to be the most bustling and welcome to any kind of coffee appreciator. You’ll be able to find Sumerian Coffee in the La Morzocco booth as well as the freshest, specialty coffee in the Royal Coffee booth.
